Położone jest w dolinie nad dwoma jeziorami, Czos i Juno. Obecna nazwa miastu Ządzbork nadana została w 1947 roku dla upamiętnienia K.C. Mrongowiusza, wybitnego leksykografa i rzecznika Polaków na Mazurach. W mieście jest kilka zabytków; ratusz z pocz. XIX w. mieści muzeum regionalne, w pobliżu ratusza stoi kościół ewangelicki z XVIII w. Neogotycki kościół katolicki powstał w 1860 roku. Współczesne Mrągowo znane jest z corocznych festiwali : Picknick Country i Festiwalu Kultury Kresowej, które odbywają się w amfiteatrze nad jez. Czos. W mieście są liczne pensjonaty i hotele. |
